GEONS Flight Software Development

The Goddard Enhanced Onboard Navigation System (GEONS) has supported autonomous onboard navigation for a variety of GSFC and commercial missions, starting from the TONS software on Terra, continuing with EO-1, Orbital’s Orbview and Microstar series, the Picasso mission built by Ball, and soon with MMS and potentially GOES-R. Although GEONS was originally developed for onboard navigation applications, it has become one of the primary analysis tools currently in use to develop mission concepts and requirements for many GSFC missions, and for Project Constellation.
